A day in the life

We often show a highlights reel of our lives.

We show off the perfect and the happy.

I didn’t film how I cried for an hour getting dressed because I felt fat. I didn’t film myself when I first woke up – bleary eyed, in 5 day old pyjamas and I need of a coffee. I didn’t film myself struggling to zip up my trousers in the port-a-Loos because eating had made me bloated. I didn’t film me taking my make up off at the end of the day.

I filmed the good bits.

Whilst it’s important to remember that what we see of other peoples lives is a heavily edited and carefully selected few moments – it’s nice to look back on your highlights.

It can be so easy to focus on the negative – so here is my positive.

Peace out.

  1. I just wrote a piece about this too – about how social media accounts or blogs hold the best moments, not the most real or relatable ones. It’s important to keep that perspective, lest we all think the entire world is one glamour shot after another. Thanks for sharing!
